Hi Nate,
Suzuki recommend fitting a 140/80-15 rear tyre to the Savage.
I have only used this size and have had no problems. I use Metzeler tyres. They look great and grip, grip, grip.
I have no experience fitting the wrong tyres to the Savage. I have been posting here and have read the following:
The 150 rear tyre fits in some brands - other brands rub on the belt guard.
Some people fit a 140/90-15 tyre. This tyre is too high and will rub on the mudguard bolts on large bumps, particularly with two on the bike and the suspension set to soft.
Both the 150 and the 140/90 people seem happy with their choice.
Personally, I would never fit any other than the Suzuki recommendation and fitting overwide or over tall tyres is a good way for a short ambulance ride to the nearest hospital! There seem to be no point compromising safety for a tyre that's just 1 cm wider than standard.

Sorry if my opinions upset anyone.

Happy Savage riding.
